A programme that will allow at least 4,500 older people to stay in their homes has been launched. Healthy Age Friendly Homes is a new national initiative designed to support older people to remain living independently in their own homes for longer through a combination of practical supports, health interventions, and home adaptations.
About Healthy Age Friendly Homes
The Healthy Age Friendly Homes programme is a partnership between the HSE, local authorities, and community organisations. It provides older people with access to a range of supports including home adaptations, assistive technology, health assessments, and connections to community services.
Why This Matters
The vast majority of older people want to remain living in their own homes as they age. Schemes like Healthy Age Friendly Homes recognise this preference and provide the practical support needed to make it a reality for more people.
HomeCarer and Independent Living
At HomeCarer Trusted Independent Living, we welcome initiatives like Healthy Age Friendly Homes as important complements to our own homecare services. We share the programme’s goal of supporting older people to live safely, comfortably, and independently at home.
