Free Care & Repair Service for the Elderly

Free DIY Repair Service
Care and Repair Free Service

Care & Repair is a service by Age Action that helps to keep people living in their own homes in increased safety and comfort. Pictured above is Duncan Steward, Irish architect, environmentalist and media personality at the launch of the Care & Repair Service.

The service uses trustworthy volunteers to carry out small DIY jobs free of charge for older people. Jobs that our volunteers can do include fixing shelves, changing locks, painting/ decorating, moving furniture, gardening, etc.

For bigger jobs Age Action keeps a list of local trades-persons whose contact details they can provide for professional quotations.

For those older people who are in the unfortunate position of not having family members calling, small tasks can become a source of great frustration. Ultimately these problems can make the difference between staying at home and moving to residential care.

Volunteers carry out DIY work for older people free of charge. We also keep a list of local tradesmen whose contact details can be provided for paid work where jobs are too large for volunteers.
